Mark Bouris may be known as one of the most successful businessmen in Australia, but to say that the Bouris family came from humble beginnings would be an understatement. A recent trip to Greece saw Mark uncover the reality of just how poor his father was, growing up in a village in the Peloponnese during WWII.

Two journalists from The Australian spent years digging into the real story behind tech giant Atlassian, and turned it into a book.
It traces how two UNSW graduates built a global software company from a Glebe share house into a NASDAQ listed giant worth more than $100 billion at its peak. Along the way, Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar became best men at each other's weddings and eventually bought mansions next door to each other in Point Piper.
But the book also uncovers how internal tensions, diverging lifestyles and a neighbourhood renovation dispute ultimately drove a wedge between them, turning one of Australia's greatest business partnerships into one of its most quietly broken.

Tim Doyle explains to me how Pornhub has been one of the key platforms for his mens tele-health business to advertise on.
"We do a lot of advertising on Pornhub. It's a good example of where we've pushed the boundaries. Funnily enough, Pornhub has an advertising engine behind it that is relatively close to the strength of Facebook's. It's called traffic junkie and it plugs into all of the porn sites."

Thinking about buying an apartment, but not sure what actually holds its value?
In this episode of Property Insights, Mark Bouris sits down with Andrew Hrsto, Founder and CEO of ALAND, for a candid look at the apartment market from someone who has built it from the ground up.
Andrew Hrsto founded ALAND in 2002 and has grown it into one of Sydney's most prolific apartment developers, with thousands of apartments delivered across Western Sydney and beyond, and projects now reaching the Central Coast and North Sydney. He has spent more than three decades in property and construction, and is also a long-time sponsor of the Parramatta Eels.
Mark and Andrew get into the things every buyer wonders about: what makes one apartment worth more than another, why brand, build quality and a walkable location now drive demand, and how the apartment buyer has changed from mostly investors to downsizers and owner-occupiers. Andrew also explains why so much of an apartment's price comes down to taxes and imposts, why projects are harder to deliver than they were ten years ago, and where he thinks home ownership is heading, including the rise of build-to-rent and the lifelong renter.
CHAPTERS:
3:01 How the apartment buyer has changed
4:12 Why apartment living is more accepted now
5:50 Inside a modern apartment: amenities and lifestyle
8:08 The features buyers want on their doorstep
9:04 What to look for: reputation, build quality and resale value
10:52 The taxes built into every apartment
12:27 Why projects are harder to deliver now
13:48 The budget and capital gains tax for developers
15:30 Build-to-rent and institutions buying whole blocks
16:41 Could single home ownership become a thing of the past?
20:39 Uncertainty, banks and non-bank lenders
23:28 Diversifying to survive, and final thoughts

I often speak about the importance of self-reflection. We all need to reflect on our actions. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my life is that no matter how low you get, only you can pull yourself out of the dumps. You can’t rely on others to do it for you. When you’re in the wilderness, you have to be your own guide out.

In this episode, he walks through the full hormone production pathway from the hypothalamus to the testes, explains which blood markers most GPs overlook, and outlines the lifestyle, nutrition, and supplementation strategies he has used to bring his own testosterone to near-1,000 nanograms per deciliter naturally. Andy Hearnden—better known as Andy Cooks—is a digital chef with over 15 million followers across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. With more than 20 years of professional kitchen experience, Andy’s mission is simple: to help people cook better food at home.
This episode is a raw, honest, and practical chat with someone who’s lived through it all and come out the other side with purpose, clarity, and a huge burst of creativity.
We spoke about his childhood, the highs and lows of working in some of the world’s top restaurants, overcoming alcohol addiction, losing his job, and how that setback became the turning point that launched his social media journey. And of course, I couldn’t help myself—I had to ask him about the oils and appliances he actually uses in the kitchen.

Most people think self-doubt is the problem.
Dr Shadé Zahrai says it's not... It's what's underneath it.
In this episode, we sit down with communication expert and PhD researcher Dr. Shadé Zahrai to unpack the four psychological drivers that either fuel your self-doubt or build what she calls "Big Trust." This isn't therapy-speak; it's research-backed, practical, and built for people who are already doing the work but can't figure out why they keep getting in their own way.

Sports journalist Andrew Webster has authored a revealing exploration of Wayne Bennett, Australia's greatest rugby league coach. Webster delves into the intriguing life of Bennett, who has won seven premierships and unparalleled ability to manage players and the public eye.
Webster uncovers the paradoxes within Bennett's character, revealing a self-professed introvert who effortlessly captivates audiences, an autocrat who aims to instil virtue in his young charges, and a family man who caused shockwaves when he ended a 42-year marriage. As other coaches criticise and emulate Bennett's tactics and players experience a rollercoaster of admiration and betrayal, the media paints a complex portrait of this iconic figure.
Andrew Webster and Mark discuss the story behind those stories and provide unique insights into the complexities of coach champion Wayne Bennett.

- The hidden cost strangling small business
- The three rules he was handed before meeting Donald Trump, and why Kerry Packer remains the most formidable person he has dealt with.

Dr Chris Davis is a GP and addiction specialist who built a telehealth program to make alcohol treatment actually accessible — no waiting lists, no rehab wards, no judgment. In this episode we get into the chemistry of what alcohol actually does to your body, why your sleep is being quietly destroyed, and what the data says about who's really drinking at risky levels in this country. If you drink — or love someone who does — this one's worth your time.

In this episode of Straight Talk, I sit down with economist Chris Joye for round five, a frank conversation about government spending, immigration, productivity and Australia’s economic future.
Chris argues that Australia’s challenges run deeper than events in the Middle East. He examines what he describes as $660 billion in additional government debt since 2022, the pressure population growth is placing on housing and infrastructure, and an expanding public service alongside declining private sector productivity.
He also questions the Reserve Bank’s “narrow path” strategy, whether political influence has shaped its approach to inflation, and the cost to Australian households.
I then ask Chris what needs to change: how to rein in spending, lift productivity and get Australia’s economy back on track.

Andrew Warner tests what Reverse Engineer Anything can actually do by reacting to real software-cloning demos.
Andrew Warner looks at REA, or Reverse Engineer Anything, through a series of YouTube demos showing how coding agents can inspect closed-source apps, understand how features work, and rebuild or adapt them. The episode covers cloning QuickTime Player, TickTick, WhisperFlow, a video editor inspired by CapCut, and Loom, plus using REA to find bugs in your own software. Andrew also digs into the bigger question behind all of this: when does reverse engineering become a legitimate way to learn, customize, or improve software, and when does it cross the line into copying?
00:00 - Reverse Engineer Anything: See how REA lets coding agents inspect closed-source software and rebuild features from it.
01:12 - REA Setup: Install the MCP server and skill that teaches your coding agent how to investigate applications.
01:39 - QuickTime Player Clone: Rebuild QuickTime with more granular playback speed controls and extra features.
03:27 - How REA Works: Use tools like Ghidra, Hopper, and IDA Pro through plain-language agent commands.
04:30 - TickTick Clone: Reverse engineer a task manager and rebuild its task lists, calendar, tags, and workflows.
06:54 - Premium Features: See REA recreate functionality that was hidden behind TickTick’s paid plan.
07:39 - Where the Clone Fails: Look at missing features, UI differences, and the extra prompting still needed.
09:54 - WhisperFlow Clone: Rebuild a voice-to-text desktop app with local transcription and multilingual input.
13:39 - Bug Testing: Use REA on your own app to uncover issues that might not be obvious from reading the code.
16:03 - CapCut-Inspired Video Editor: Build a simpler editor with timeline controls, splitting, captions, and export.
19:21 - Inspiration vs Copying: Andrew explores whether using an existing app as a starting point becomes legitimate once you change the product.
19:48 - Loom Clone: Recreate Loom-style recording, movable camera bubbles, and local file storage without copying the exact UI.
21:00 - Final Take: Andrew weighs the practical value of REA against the ethical questions around cloning software.
