Life with Father (1947) | Full Movie | Classic Comedy | William Powell, Irene Dunne & Elizabeth Taylor

Step back into 1880s New York for one of Hollywood's memorable classic family comedies.

Directed by Michael Curtiz, Life with Father (1947) stars William Powell as Clarence Day, Irene Dunne as Vinnie Day, and a young Elizabeth Taylor as Mary Skinner.

Clarence Day is a successful New York businessman who believes his household should run according to his rules. But inside the Day family home, things rarely go exactly as Clarence expects.

With four energetic sons, unexpected guests, household misunderstandings, romance, and Vinnie's quiet determination to keep everyone under control, Clarence soon discovers that being "the boss" of the house may not be as simple as he thinks.

Based on the memoir by Clarence Day and adapted from the successful stage play, Life with Father offers a charming look at family life, marriage, parenting and social customs in late-19th-century New York.

The film also features Edmund Gwenn, ZaSu Pitts, Jimmy Lydon, Martin Milner, Johnny Calkins and Derek Scott.
