Every PC should be using either a SATA SSD or an NVMe as its boot drive. HDDs are still the better option for mass storage drives but they can’t hold up to the speed of this new solid state tech! Even on your old laptop you can slap in an SSD to replace that slow mechanical drive! Thankfully this Dell Inspiron had an NVMe slot which is even faster than SATA.

This big old Origin laptop came into my computer repair shop because it won't stop beeping after the customer replaced the thermal paste. This old laptop is a real chonker, and the tech packed into here was top of the line back in the day. But even after new thermal paste and fans, this pc still keeps beeping, indicating damage on the motherboard. But the amount of labor to track down the issue without schematics, will cost more than this old technology is even worth. Which is always the problem with motherboard issues in high-cost countries like the US, leading to more e-waste.
