The Criminal Justice program at NEWTech prepares students for careers in law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and the military. Students learn the ins and outs of restorative justice and bolster their communication skills, which help with conflict resolution. They will also participate in a rigorous physical training program that emulates what they’d experience at basic training or police academy.

If you love cars, enjoy working with your hands and are looking to jump start your career in the Automotive Techology industry, enroll in the Auto Tech Program at NEWTech Skill Center – one of 16 programs to help prepare you for your future.

As an Auto Tech student at NEWTech, you’ll get to work on real cars in our very own service center – with the same state-of-the-art equipment the professional garages use. Your instructors have decades of auto industry experience and the knowledge to show you the ins and outs of running diagnostics, maintaining and fixing client vehicles, calculating estimates and customer service.

Juniors and seniors interested in the Auto Tech program can choose to attend either the morning session or afternoon session, five days a week. Students can earn three CTE/Elective credits per year and one math credit for high school graduation as well as college credits that can be applied to SCC’s automotive program. There are also up to ten different Automotive Service Excellence Student Certifications students can earn, which will help build their resume and get a leg up as they head into this competitive industry.

Do you love to work in the kitchen and are looking to stretch your creativity at school? Enroll in the exciting Culinary Arts and Hospitality program at NEWTech Skill Center. Whether your goal is to become a chef, manage a restaurant, or anything in between, NEWTech will help you get there.

This program goes beyond the typical cooking class. Five days a week, students learn the ins and outs of the culinary arts and hospitality industry by preparing and serving food for catering events, the student-run restaurant, and their popular coffee shop, Mr. Beans. Students also learn how to create a great recipe, how to present, talk and write about food, menu planning, customer service, and managing food suppliers and buyers.

Students can enroll in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality program for one year or two years and can earn a lab science credit and three CTE/Elective credits towards graduation. Students are also eligible to earn their Washington State Food Handler’s card, ServSafe Food Manager Certification, and MAST license as well as earn up to 13 credits to be applied to the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy.

Are you a student who learns best through hands-on projects? Do you like to build and create and be part of a team? Consider enrolling in the Construction Trades program at NEWTech Skill Center - one of 16 different programs that will help you achieve your post-high school education and career goals.

As a Construction student at NEWTech, you’ll try your hand at different elements in the construction trades, like framing, wiring, roofing, HVAC, and more! Students also learn how to use power tools, read blueprints and building plans, even rebuild a home from the studs at a live jobsite. They’ll also get to visit different apprenticeships and business to talk and learn from construction professionals and earn their OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, flagger and forklift certifications.

Construction Trades is a one or two-year program running five days a week, with students spending half their school day at NEWTech - either in the morning or the afternoon. Whatever works best for your high school schedule. Students can earn up to three CTE credits per year, as well as one math credit toward their graduation requirements.
