Csokonai Árvíz című verse az érzékletes természetleírások és a természeti erők megjelenítésén keresztül az emberi érzelmek kifejezésének egyik remek példája. A műben az árvíz mint természeti jelenség és szimbolikus erő jelenik meg, amely nem csupán fizikai pusztulást okoz, hanem az emberi lélek mélyebb érzéseit is felszínre hozza.
Tematika és motívumok
A vers központi témája a természet vad ereje, amely kontrollálhatatlan és katasztrofális. Az árvíz egy olyan erő, amely mindent elsöpör, elpusztítja az ember alkotta világot, és rámutat arra, hogy az emberi lét mennyire kiszolgáltatott a természeti erőknek. Az árvíz itt egyben a belső érzelmi világ szimbóluma is lehet: az érzelmek áradata, amely mindent elmos, kontrollálhatatlanná válik.
