Americans are increasingly falling into the “tribal trap,” according to Dan Shapiro, author of “Negotiating the Nonnegotiable: How to Resolve Your Most Emotionally Charged Conflicts.”
The tribal trap often centers on politics. Those ensnared in it will do anything they can to shut down the other side in an effort to prove that their side is right, just, and the only way forward. But from abortion to immigration, the problem is often not what we’re arguing about, it’s how.
So, how can we have more productive conversations? In this Big Think interview, Shapiro uses his negotiating expertise to outline several strategies to escape the tribal trap and communicate effectively, including understanding the core values of the other side, listening intently to what they’re saying, conveying that you understand what they’re saying, and finding common ground.

A karácsony az év egyik legmeghittebb ünnepe, amely a szeretet, a család és az összetartozás örömét hirdeti. Eredetileg keresztény ünnepként Jézus Krisztus születését ünnepli, mára azonban szinte a világ minden táján a béke és az emberi kapcsolatok megerősítésének időszaka lett.
A karácsony varázsát a szokások sokszínűsége adja. A gyertyafényes adventi időszak, a karácsonyfa díszítése, a közös éneklések, valamint a szeretetteljes ajándékozás mind hozzájárulnak ahhoz, hogy a családok és barátok közelebb kerüljenek egymáshoz. A hóesés, a meghitt gyertyafény és a karácsonyi dallamok különleges hangulatot teremtenek, amely minden generáció számára emlékezetessé teszi az ünnepet.
A karácsony nemcsak az örömről szól, hanem a segítésről és az önzetlenségről is. Ilyenkor az emberek különösen odafigyelnek azokra, akiknek szükségük van a támogatásra, legyen szó egy meleg ételről, egy kedves szóról, vagy egyszerűen egy mosolyról. Ez az ünnep arra emlékeztet minket, hogy a legnagyobb ajándék, amit adhatunk, a figyelmünk és a szeretetünk.
Végső soron a karácsony nemcsak egy nap, hanem egy érzés, egy szellemiség, amely megmutatja, hogyan lehet az életünket szebbé és tartalmasabbá tenni azáltal, hogy egymásra figyelünk és megbecsüljük a közös pillanatokat.

Ady ebben a versében a karácsony misztériumát és meghittségét emeli ki. A harangszó a vallási áhítat és a közösségi ünnep szimbóluma, amely összeköti a földit és az égit.
