Bob Duggan is 82 years old, worth more than $10 billion, and responsible for one of the most extraordinary biotech turnarounds in modern business.

But his story didn’t begin with billions.

He grew up in an 800 sq ft home, worked for $1.50 an hour, started investing with just $5,000, and spent decades learning how businesses actually win.

Then life hit him harder than any deal ever could: his son Damien developed glioblastoma and eventually passed away.

That loss pulled Bob deeper into healthcare and ultimately toward a struggling biotech company whose value had nearly collapsed.

He backed the science, challenged conventional thinking, helped push the company forward and in 2015 it sold for $21 billion, reportedly making Bob roughly $2 billion in a single day.
