Did you know an 18,000-person clinical trial involving beta-carotene and lung cancer was stopped early after participants taking the supplement had worse outcomes?

Beta-carotene is a precursor to vitamin A, but the beta-carotene used in the study was synthetic. Get beta-carotene from food sources for the best results and to avoid potential negative side effects.

Synthetic vitamin E may be okay short term, but with long-term use it can contribute to oxidative stress. Synthetic vitamin A can also create problems, including competing with vitamin D at the receptor level, increasing the risk of birth defects during pregnancy, and increasing the risk of bone fractures.
