The FDA Just Cleared a Trial to Reverse Aging | DAVID SINCLAIR REVEALS THE BREAKTHROUGH
The FDA just cleared a clinical trial that could mark a major turning point in the science of aging.
At the 2026 World Governments Summit, David Sinclair discussed the possibility of reversing aspects of biological aging and explained how scientists are moving from laboratory research toward human clinical testing.

The breakthrough involves epigenetic reprogramming — an approach designed to restore older or damaged cells toward a younger, more functional state without changing the underlying DNA sequence.
In January 2026, the U.S. FDA cleared the Investigational New Drug (IND) application for ER-100, developed by Life Biosciences. The Phase 1 trial is studying the therapy in patients with optic neuropathies, including open-angle glaucoma and NAION.
Then, in June 2026, Life Biosciences announced that the first participant had been dosed in the Phase 1 ER-100 clinical trial. The study is primarily evaluating safety and tolerability, while also assessing measures of visual function.
ER-100 uses controlled expression of three transcription factors — OCT4, SOX2 and KLF4 (OSK) — as part of Life Biosciences' epigenetic restoration approach. The goal is to restore cellular function by resetting aspects of the epigenetic state toward more youthful patterns.
But there is an important distinction:
Scientists have NOT proven that they can reverse human aging yet.
This is an early Phase 1 clinical trial. The results will have to show whether the approach is safe and whether the biological effects seen in preclinical research can translate into meaningful benefits in humans.
In this video, we look at what David Sinclair explains about the breakthrough, what scientists have actually achieved, how epigenetic reprogramming works, why the FDA clearance matters, and what the first human trial could mean for the future of aging research.
Could this be the beginning of a new era in medicine — where scientists don't just treat diseases of aging, but target the biology of aging itself?
We'll break down the science, the clinical trial, the evidence, and the questions that remain unanswered.
This video is for educational and informational purposes. The therapies discussed are investigational and are not approved treatments for reversing aging.
