On Tuesday, CoreWeave's bonds touched a 15% yield. That is the yield bond markets reserve for companies they think might be in real trouble. Two weeks earlier it was 13.42%. The credit spread just blew past 1,000 basis points for the first time ever.

That is the market's verdict on $35 billion in debt — about $52 billion with leases — where last quarter's $640 million interest bill was bigger than operating income. The debt is fuel for a machine: raise cheap debt, build $35–39 billion of capex, win $104 billion in backlog, borrow more. Price the fuel at 15% and the machine eats itself.

And yet Wall Street has not moved. Twenty analysts still say Buy, the average target is $143.96, and even the lowest target — $74 — sits above the $65.78 stock. Meanwhile the bank CEOs said both things at once: the boom is real, and "there will be a point in time when this recalibrates, resets, for sure."

The bond investors think CoreWeave might be in real trouble. The analysts still see growth. They cannot both be right — and if the bond investors are right, financing is what snaps, not demand: at 15%, borrowing money to build data centers stops making sense, and the machine stalls. So watch the bond, not the stock.
