🔍 A szonett képi világának mondanivalója
A 75. szonett egy szerelmes lélek sóvárgását, kielégíthetetlen vágyát festi le. A kulcsképek mind az evés, birtoklás és éhezés metaforáira épülnek:
• „food to life”, „sweet-season’d showers” – az élet alapfeltételei
• „feasting”, „starved”, „gluttoning” – túltápláltság és éhezés paradoxona
• „miser and his wealth” – kapzsiság, amely nem örömöt, hanem félelmet szül
Ezek a szerelem ambivalenciáját fejezik ki: egyszerre bőség és hiány, gyönyör és fájdalom.
A mű rámutat, hogy Shakespeare nyelvében az érzéki és anyagi képek (mint az étkezés, lakoma, pénz) spirituális vagy érzelmi tartalommal telítődnek – ez az „isteni szerelem” határa.
Szabó Lőrinc fordítása finomítja az eredeti szenvedélyes és nyers képeit: a „zabálás–koplalás” helyett inkább „varázs és részegség” lesz belőlük, ezzel egy magasztosabb regiszterbe emelve az érzelmeket.
